Tat Shila (Hot Stone)
The hot stone massage relieves soreness and relieves tension in the body's muscles. Massage technique dates back 5000 years to the Ayurveda, which envisaged an energy called prana, or the "breath of life."
Expert therapists use 54-62°C heated flat, smooth stones that can retain heat on chakras, the seven energy centres of the body somewhat akin to acupuncture nodes, along the spine, on the stomach, chest, palms, and between the toes.
Techniques And Purpose:
This massage is connected to ancient Mayan practices. The stones themselves are volcanic basalt often sourced from beaches in Mexico or Chile. They then placed stones in specific areas of the body including the back, stomach, face, hands, and feet. Some massage therapists hold the stones in their hands and use them to massage. This allows the therapist to get deeper into the muscles without more pressure, helping you to relax yet further.
